My Ship
Sometimes my ship is big
And sometimes it's small.
Sometimes I feel big
And sometimes I feel small.
But no matter what:
It's my ship.
And whether it's small
or tall.
I AM THE CAPTAIN
.... and I make the call.
The winds behind the sails on my ship of life has shifted. It's funny how relationships have a tendancy to do that. What once was is no longer, so now I'm free to go where I want. It really should be that way regardless, but what the heck. The winds are blowing my ship south to Argentina. This is a summer of preparation.

City Block
This piece which is titled "City Block" will be completely surrounded and covered in all sorts of pieces of metal and then when completed the particle boxes will be burned out.
You can contribute to this sculpture by giving me any scrap metal you may have lying around. When it's done you will be able to see YOUR piece on the sculpture.
The burn will be a "Performance Art" event with a lot of "hoop de la" along with it.

Copying The Masters
Copying The Masters
Three Musicians |
While reading an art history book this morning I came across a chapter describing how Picasso spent time copying the masters.
Between August and September of 1957, Picasso delved into a thorough analysis of Las Meninas, one of the most celebrated Velazquez paintings. His interpretative analysis of Velazquez' Las Meninas yielded the 58 Picasso paintings that comprise the Picasso Las Meninas series. Picasso commented:

So in this manner I could do the same with Picasso's Three Musicians then; whenever I changed it to the way I wanted it then I would forget about Picasso and the sculpture would be mine,
If all I ever did was someone elses work then I would not be original, but in studying a master a great deal can be learned. Afterall, we as artists are all influenced by one or another artist. Like Solomon says, "There is nothing new under the sun"
